098 : NEW DESIGN!!!

I don't know how peeps come by this blog, just that's it's only a few of you. But if you come to the actual page and don't subscribe, you may have noticed the new look.

I've been wanting a new look forever. It's just that dealing with Blogger is not something I wanted to do. I'm perfectly capable of redesigning my blog, but installing it...ugh. Blogger has a weird semi-language, and I didn't want to learn it. So, I've been hobbling by, tweaking shit here and there. But it's just always been lackluster. Plus, I'm not so great at logo design.

So, I was surfing the internet and I found this lovely little blog. It's a pretty delightful blog. The content is sweet. She recently posted a badass DIY that I really want to do! So, you'll notice her as number THREE in my right sidebar. She gets a big button and top billing! I'm enjoying her as a regular read.

On her blog, she has some links to her design business. Like I always do, I surfed over there to check it out. Holy shit, y'all, her prices are RIDICULOUSLY AFFORDABLE!!!

So, I e-mailed her and then proceeded to check my e-mail EVERY DAY until she finally replied! (Her turnaround was super quick, I was just really impatient.) She has this awesome list of questions that I was super thorough on, and I think they really helped. It really didn't take us much time to reach a great place. I found working with her was super awesome.

But, I have to let you know I tweaked her design a bit. The initial blog was too white, and y'all, I hate that! So, I made the background of the blog bits more grey. I also tweaked my layout. She had rearranged things, and I put them back where I like them. I do not know if this is taboo behavior, and I don't care. Her design was 99% perfectly awesome, and I just fixed that 1% to better suit my tastes.

I'm gonna go ahead and let you know that the tweaks I made ARE NOT AT ALL because she didn't listen to me or whatever. It was weird, hiring someone else to do my design. I've never used another designer, ever. I've always done EVERYTHING myself. I enjoy web design, and I've had a good time designing my photography site over the years. The reason I didn't do this is like I said, Blogger language...oh, and I'm lazy. I wanted fresh eyes.

What I didn't know, going into this, is that I am more territorial than I realized. I tried to be really specific, and Melanie definitely got shit so fucking right. I cannot say nice enough things about her, seriously. I just didn't know how I'd react to letting go of the control.

Anyway, my point is : My Billie Designs IS FUCKING AWESOME!!!!. Y'all, if you have any blog needs, HIRE HER! My fave part is the a la carte pricing, which is what I used. I picked bits and pieces and got all this shit for UNDER $100!!! Can you believe it? Because I cannot. I enjoyed this so much, that I might just hire her again in the spring for a redesign. It's so affordable, why not? But seriously, CHECK HER OUT!!!
