153 : Room Redo : Part 2

After I cleaned out my room, I had planned on rearranging with with just the furniture I had left. But I was at a craft show and one of the vendors was an awesome furniture designer. Storyline Design is run by this awesome guy who makes newer furniture from older things. He modifies and refurbishes old pieces. He was across the way from me and I fell in love with a couple of end-table type items. But they were really out of my budget, and while I was in a position to splurge using the money from the sale of my desktop, I couldn't justify the pieces because I didn't know where I'd use them. As I was looking over his stuff, I noticed bookshelves, and they were totally in my price range for splurging. Plus, I had put all of my books in my closet, since I really had nowhere to store them...but this enabled me to have all my books out. I asked the designer to put wheels on the bookshelves, and he did...so awesome new piece! With the new piece, I kept my old desk chair and created a cool reading nook. AWESOME! Check out my new room:

New reading nook! Bookshelves $180, Chair free from neighbor, Costco step stool free from curb, Foot rest free from friend, Lamp $15 from thrift

The new bookshelves are metal based and reinforced with wood, VERY sturdy and perfect for holding all of my books! The artwork is a collection of stuff collected from various places, including friends, flickr friends, "found", created by me, or from craft shows...

I was unsure of the layout with the bed, but my friend suggested putting my couch out from the wall and it made perfect sense to nestle my bed behind the couch. Bed $80 from thrift, Couch $40 from thrift

This awkward closet was the perfect place to put my buffet/dresser and tv. With my couch in its new position, I can easily have fun movie or video game nights! Buffet $35 from thrift, TV $25 paid in babysitting trade, Xbox $100 bought from a friend

  3. @Spinning Free : Thanks!

@Minimeg : Me too! But the chair has become Lulu's chair. 'Cause, you know, cats own everything.

  5. @theloudmouth : Thanks! It was a serendipitous occurrence! I did NOT plan it, and even expected to get rid of that chair, maybe. How it all came together was just awesome, and I'm kind of impressed with myself! I do think I need more artwork, though...and I really need to pull out nails, spackle holes, and touch up the paint!
